About Dj Breadman

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BREADMAN

Live Wire, Horseman and Fat Head were building the sound Addis-Ababa and DJ Breadman joined them, this was back in the late 1970’s. Addis-Ababa became a very popular sound system rehearsing for events. The main MC were Live Wire and Breadman. Breadman was the operator with Horseman as the selector, Leroy Simmonds would also be singing along on the mic. They would have regular sound clashes with sounds like Nasty Rockers, Mighty Three, Small Axe, Lord Gelie and Stixman. They had regular recurring events at Podium, Crystal Palace Banqueting Suite, Boat Trips and was the sound of choice the for annual London Transport dances. They were on of the first sounds to video their events.

Addis-Ababa decided to extend into music production so formed a studio in Streatham in the 80’s called the Whitehouse. One of the first recording artists was Peter Hunnigale. They went on to record Buju Banton, Luciano, Top Cat and had a Reggae chart topper with Echo Minott with ‘Murder Weapon’ on the Oh Carolina riddim.

DJ Breadman’s music collection spans all genres and is vast. His first love is reggae music but he loves to mix and select from all genres of music.

Today the original members of Addis-Ababa  along with a new addition Stan continue to play the sound on request. On one occasion they were told that were being brought out of retirement, but you can never truly retire from enjoying and playing music!
